What is SEO?

What is SEO?

You’ve heard the term bandied about, but what does it stand for and what does it do? It is an acronym for Search Engine Optimisation, and in a nutshell it’s a marketing technique that helps increase the quantity and quality of the traffic to your website.

OK, but really, what is SEO?

Well, if your content is good and on point, and your website has been search engine optimised, you’ll get more traffic to your site because people will be able to find you when they search using the keywords that you’ve focused on. More traffic translates to more sales leads, which, if handled correctly, in turns results in increased sales and profitability.

If your SEO is done properly and your website has clear information and drives visitors to either buy, phone or e-mail you, you will see a good ROI (return on investment). The first step is to undertake and audit of your current SEO situation. This is included in each of our packages.

Why should you do SEO?

Search engine optimisation has the potential to drive a lot of quality leads to your website for free. For example, if you search for “maths tutors near me“, there’s a high chance you’re going to become the client of a maths tutor that shows up on Google. That is the power of search engine optimisation!

Why is SEO better than PPC?

PPC (pay per click) is the way Google’s Adword campaign operates. Click here to find our more information on that.

We believe that when you get going, a short Adwords campaign is helpful in getting you noticed right out of the starting blocks. We do this while we build all the elements of your Search Engine marketing strategy and work the 2 together for best effect initially. However, in the long term, the benefits of SEO far outweigh PPC.

Why? Simple: Because you don’t have to keep spending money on PPC ads to drive traffic to your site on an ongoing basis if your site is already on the 1st page of Google organically! With PPC, your traffic stops as soon as you stop paying for ads. Optimising the pages on your website has a much longer-lasting effect.

A quick case study: A small telecoms company offering overseas calls wanted to SEO for their 2 most important keyword phrases (as its all they could afford given a VERY limited budget). They were competing against not only the big guys in their industry in their country, but also international competitors.

Due to their limited budget, it took us 6 months to get them onto the first page and a further 6 months to get them into the number 1 position for those 2 phrases.
However, here is the clincher: They remained in the number 1 position for those 2 phrases for the next 10 years!
Yes…that initial 1 year SEO spend (which they were going to spend on Adwords PPC), resulted in them not having to pay for all the click-through’s they got to their website through those phrases for 10 years! How’s that for a good ROI (return on investment)?!

What are backlinks?

Backlinks are links from an external site to yours. For example, when I link to Facebook like this, I am generating a backlink for them. The more high quality backlinks you get clicking from other sites to yours, the higher the ranking of your site.

As such, building backlinks is a key search engine optimisation task if you want to reach page #1 on Google and is obviously one of our key strategies. Speaking of what factors affect your organic rankings, did you know there are about 200 hundred of them! But don’t let that overwhelm you. We’ll handle things for you!
